# SottMeet

> SottMeet is a Chrome extension that adds real-time, two-way voice translation to Google Meet and Microsoft Teams (web) calls. You speak your language; the other person hears a translated voice in theirs about a second later, and both sides see live subtitles. Only the SottMeet user installs it — other participants join Google Meet or Teams normally.

## Key facts
- Platform: Google Meet and Microsoft Teams (web: teams.microsoft.com, teams.live.com) in the Google Chrome browser. Teams needs a one-time "Allow on Teams" click in the popup. Not the Teams desktop app, not Zoom.
- Languages you can speak and be heard in (19): Chinese, English, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, Filipino, Hindi, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Italian, Catalan, Russian, Arabic, Hebrew. Any pair works (e.g. Chinese ↔ Thai), not only to/from English.
- Incoming speech is detected automatically across 70+ languages.
- Latency: translation starts about one second after a phrase ends.
- Account: any Google account, including free Gmail. No Google Workspace or AI subscription needed.
- Pricing: up to 30 free minutes in total — 5 on sign-in with no card, +10 when you add a card (no charge), +15 once after the first successful auto top-up; then prepaid per minute: US$10 ≈ 65 min, US$30 ≈ 205 min (+5%), US$50 ≈ 390 min (+20%) — about US$9 per hour on the $10 plan. Billed only while translation is on; it stops by itself after 3 minutes of silence. No subscription.
- Subtitles-only mode (since version 1.12, October 2026): for meetings where you mostly listen — the others' words appear as translated subtitles with no AI voice, your own voice goes out untranslated, and it uses half the minutes (as low as about US$3.9 per hour on the US$50 plan). One click switches back to two-way voice during the call.
- Privacy: audio is translated in real time and discarded; meetings are not recorded; subtitles stay in the user's browser.

## Compared with Google Meet's built-in speech translation (Google Meet Help, October 2026)
- Google Meet's speech translation supports English ↔ French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish only, requires Google AI Pro/Ultra or Workspace Business Standard and above, uses one language pair per meeting, and is limited to 90 minutes per meeting.
