Real-time voice translators for Google Meet and Teams, compared
Some tools let the other person hear you in their language. Others only show captions, and some need everyone on a paid plan or a link to join. This page compares nine options side by side so you can pick the one that fits your meetings.

Which one should you use?
- You want the other person to hear you in their language, and they shouldn't have to do anything: SottMeet. MeetVoice also does this in Google Meet only, and Meet's own speech translation does if your plan includes it and your pair is English plus one of its six languages.
- You speak Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Vietnamese, Arabic or another language with someone who isn't an English speaker: SottMeet works for any pair of its 19 languages, for example Japanese ↔ Spanish. Meet's built-in voice translation always needs English on one side.
- Your company is on Microsoft 365 Copilot and meets in Teams: Teams Interpreter is built in. Every listener needs the Copilot license.
- You only need to read captions yourself: Tactiq or Felo Subtitles. JotMe if you also want to share the captions by link.
- You're running a conference or a large event: Wordly or DeepL Voice for Meetings, which give attendees a listening link.
The options in short
SottMeet
A Chrome extension for real-time two-way voice translation in Google Meet and Microsoft Teams on the web. You speak your language, and the other person hears you in theirs about a second later, with subtitles for both sides. Only you install it, it works on free Gmail, and you pay only for the minutes you use.
Google Meet speech translation
Google's built-in voice translation keeps a voice similar to yours. It covers English with French, German, Hindi, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish, one pair per meeting, up to 90 minutes, and needs a Google AI Pro or Ultra plan or a Workspace Business Standard plan or higher.
Microsoft Teams Interpreter
Copilot's interpreter speaks a translation in Teams meetings in nine languages. Each listener needs a Microsoft 365 Copilot license, and it doesn't work in Teams free or in other meeting apps.
JotMe
A meeting translator with a desktop app, a Chrome extension and mobile apps. Meeting participants get translated captions they can open through a link or QR code. Its site mentions a translated voice only for in-person use in the mobile app.
Felo Subtitles
Live subtitles and translation in Chrome for Google Meet, with a desktop app for other meeting apps. Others can view the subtitles through a share link, but they don't hear a translated voice.
MeetVoice
A Google Meet extension with a desktop app that can speak your words as a translated voice, which you turn on yourself. It works only in Google Meet in Chrome and is billed by monthly hours.
DeepL Voice for Meetings
DeepL's enterprise meeting product. A DeepL bot joins the call and posts a caption link; the full voice-to-voice experience needs DeepL's desktop app. Pricing is quoted by sales.
Tactiq
A meeting note-taker that also translates captions. The translation is shown only to you, so it helps you follow along but doesn't help the other person understand you.
Wordly
AI interpretation for conferences and events. Attendees open a link or app to listen or read in their language. It's sold in prepaid hour packages.
Questions
What's the best real-time voice translator for Google Meet?
If the other person should hear you in their language without installing anything or having a paid Google plan, SottMeet is built for that. If your Workspace plan includes Meet's speech translation and you only need English with one of its six languages, the built-in feature works too.
Can Google Meet translate voice for free?
No. Meet's speech translation needs Google AI Pro or Ultra, or Workspace Business Standard and above. Translated captions also need a paid Workspace plan. SottMeet works on free Gmail accounts.
What's the difference between translated captions and voice translation?
Captions are text you read under the video. Voice translation means the other person hears what you said, spoken in their language, so they can keep looking at you instead of reading.
Does the other person need to install anything?
Not with SottMeet, JotMe, Felo, MeetVoice or Tactiq: only you install them. Wordly and DeepL Voice for Meetings give others a link to open, and Teams Interpreter needs a Copilot license for each listener.
Is there an alternative to JotMe or Tactiq that speaks the translation?
Yes. SottMeet and MeetVoice speak the translation so the other person hears it. SottMeet also works in Microsoft Teams and translates both directions out loud.
Want them to hear you in their language?
Try SottMeet in your next Google Meet or Teams call. 5 free minutes, no card needed.
